Yafei Chen

Yafei Chen is the Founder and Director of Blue Field Fine Art, an art advisory built through close collaboration with private clients and cultural institutions.Raised in China and trained in East Asian studies, she brings a nuanced understanding of the cultural exchanges that shaped artists working between East and West, with particular expertise in the work of Zao Wou-Ki, Chu Teh-Chun, and related movements in postwar abstraction.As a doctoral researcher at Harvard University, she developed expertise in provenance research, cataloging, and historical scholarship. She views an art collection as a living archive defined by time, movement, and human connection.Through Christie’s Education, she deepened her understanding of the art market, enabling her to guide clients in acquisitions, collection development, and long-term stewardship with clarity and care. Her approach is grounded in rigorous due diligence and a nuanced understanding of how artworks circulate through the public and private market.Working across the United States, Asia, and Europe, she advises a global clientele of distinguished collectors and business leaders whose collections include significant works by Chinese diaspora artists and Western modern masters.Yafei approaches collecting as both a strategic investment and a deeply personal pursuit rooted in cultural dialogue and legacy, helping clients build collections that endure across generations.
